About Me
Hello Everyone!
I'm Katie. I graduated from Emporia State University in May of 2014. Since that time, I've worked in a variety of settings including an inpatient psychiatric residential treatment center, child welfare organization, and an outpatient clinic. During my career I've completed hundreds of psychological evaluations and worked with a variety of populations including individuals in psychiatric residential treatment facilities, incarcerated youth, foster children, foster parents, and parents whom were trying to reintegrate their children home. For the past three years, I've been blessed enough to work in an outpatient private practice setting with tweens, teens, and adults! While I'm no longer completing psychological evaluations, I have found my passion of providing individual therapy as it allows me to see an individual more than once.
My experiences in mental health have taught me that everyone learns differently, has their own unique perspective, and how important it is to tailor treatment to fit the needs and goals of each individual. As a result, my therapeutic framework tends to be somewhat eclectic although my therapeutic approach is heavily influenced by cognitive-behavioral modalities.
I work enjoy working with clients who have ADHD, are on the Autism Spectrum, struggle with anxiety, are members of the LGBTQIA community, or live alternative lifestyles. My own ADHD, life experiences, & closeness to others who share these diagnosis have driven my passion to work with these individuals.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my pets, cooking, as well as nerdy pursuits such as playing computer games, Magic the Gathering, D&D, and tabletop games. I also enjoys cooking shows, as well as Supernatural and Dr. Who. If you happen to have similar interests, and would like a therapist who does as well, we could be a great fit!
